Our story
Emre Kara founded KARA in 2009 in a Beyoğlu workshop with a single window. Watching the light from that window move across the table through the day defined the office’s method.
Today a team of sixteen designs residential towers, a museum, villas and offices. In every project we draw the shadow first and let light in from a single, right place.
We love dark materials: anthracite concrete, charred timber, blackened steel. Within them a single line of light is as powerful as a chandelier.
