Light
The galleries have no windows; light enters each room through a single roof slit and falls only on the work on display.
A windowless mass of dark fair-faced concrete: a single vertical slit at the entrance and galleries where light falls only on the art.
The idea of the museum was simple: in the dark, only the work should glow. Visitors pass through a narrow vertical slit at the entrance and rise along a 64-metre ramp while their eyes adjust to the dark.
The galleries have no windows. Roof slits are angled so daylight falls only on the work on display.
