Light
The deep eave cuts out the midday sun entirely; light enters only in the morning and evening, low and golden.
A long horizontal villa clad in charred black timber with deep eaves and a dark reflecting pool in front.
We clad the villa in cedar charred with local craftsmen. The burnt surface protects against decay and takes on a silvery sheen in the sun.
The 3.2-metre eave cuts out the harsh Aegean midday sun, while the dark pool in front reflects evening light back inside.
