Light
The house opens onto a square void at its centre; every room receives light only from this courtyard and the shadow of its single olive tree.
A black concrete house with a square void at its heart: closed to the outside, open inward to a single olive tree and the sky.
Against Bodrum’s hot and crowded summers the house was designed as a black mass that barely opens outwards. Every room faces the eight-metre square courtyard at its centre.
The single olive tree in the courtyard casts its shadow into corridors and rooms through the day; it is the clock of the house.
